If there is ever a test of a wedding photographer’s creativity, it’s inclement weather at a gorgeous outdoor venue. Frolicking in golden sun-drenched fields is sort of out of the question. When choosing a nice outdoor venue, like planning an outdoor Billings Estate Museum Wedding, rain is always a risk, but you REALLY hope that it doesn’t become a factor….trust me, it happened at my own wedding.
It doesn’t matter how gorgeous of a venue you have, if it’s miserable outside, things are gonna be tough. People who spend massive amounts of money on dresses, suits, hair and make-up don’t want to get wet, and, typically, pretty outdoor venues don’t aways have *stunning* indoor back-up plans. Although the weather on Cassandra + Eric’s Billings Museum wedding day was pretty much solid rain all day, everything was absolutely gorgeous. Billings Estate’s tent provided a great back-up plan, and I think we managed to get some pretty cool portraits inside the small museum itself. Their reception was at Prinzo Hall – somewhere I had never been. The facility is stunning, and the staff did an incredible job. Thankfully the rain lifted later in the evening, and Cass & Eric were up for getting a few photos on the deserted downtown Ottawa streets at night…my favourite!!!!
Congratulations, Cass & Eric – I had a blast working with you!!
