I met Pete and Alicia last year while photographing the series of Duelling Chefs challenges in the winter. Pete is Chef / Co-Owner of the incredible Juniper Kitchen & Wine Bar in Ottawa, and spent 8 Monday evenings last year with my camera lens in his face. I was thrilled when they contacted me this summer to announce their engagement, and asked me to photograph their upcoming wedding in August 2011.
Doing engagement shoots in Ottawa winters requires a little bit of patience, planning, and a whole lotta luck. Between freezing weather, little daylight, Alicia’s Nursing school schedule & Pete’s hours at Juniper, I was thrilled that I was able to get a few hours with Pete and Alicia on an unusually warm January afternoon to bounce around the Westboro area to get some engagement photos. We had a TON of fun, and I think we got some great shots. They’re a totally amazing couple, and it doesn’t take long to see the natural chemistry they have.
