Scheduling engagement shoots around weather is usually pretty easy since, unlike a wedding, there aren’t other vendors, guests & schedules to consider. Simply keep an eye on the forecast and maybe move it out by a day if things look nasty. Since Franca + Dwayne are from Toronto, this made things a little bit trickier this weekend. After almost 3 solid weeks of gorgeous, warm fall weather, the heavens opened on the day they drove up for a weekend visit to Ottawa with Dwayne’s 2 boys. We made the best of it, and I think we all still had a lot of fun (and got some pretty cool photos), despite the chilly, windy, wet weather.
Since this was Franca’s first time in Ottawa, Dwayne insisted on doing at least 1 shot in front of Parliament (which is generally a spot I avoid for photos), so I figured it might be fun to do something a little bit different…and yes, the wind genuinely blew the umbrella inside-out, we just chose not to fix it.
Here are some of my favorites from the session. I’m super excited for their wedding in January, and I’m hoping that this will bank some good “weather karma” for their winter wedding.
